Intro to Me !
Hi,
My name is Erin Olivia and I am a freshman at Faulkner University. I have probably three great passions: the first being my love for the Lord and my desire to grow closer to Him. I especially love discovering a new bible study to do with friends so we can encourage each other in our relationship with God.
The second would be for, reading and understanding great literature. Growing up I read more books than I could count and loved immersing myself in the world contained within it’s pages. As I previously mentioned I have already read more books than I can keep track of, yet my growing list of books I would like to read is endless and will most likely never be completed. In keeping with this I will add that if you ever have a book suggestion, please feel free to tell me as I will most definitely be interested!
My third passion, is music and singing. I am almost always listening to a song, but in those rare moments of quiet even then I am playing a song in my head. This is also true for singing, as my mom likes to joke that I am similar to some type of background music that is played in a store. Usually I only sing constantly at home, and try not to sing out loud in public, but I do fail sometimes and it will burst out of me at random moments. All this to say, if I ever randomly burst into song don’t think it unusual as it is a frequent thing for me. The more you’re around me the more you’ll find it to be true, so I apologize in advance to all of my future friends and classmates.
Hopefully this has helped you get a feel for who I am and what makes me, me! If not I will tell you a few fun facts about me as an addition. 1.) I am quite literally obsessed with cat pajamas, 2.) I competed in high level gymnastics for about 11 years, 3.) When I was around 8 years old my gymnastics coach decided to give me the nickname “Ernie” and ever since that day in the world of gymnastics I am known as, yes you guessed it, Ernie!
Lastly, my title of this blog is called as you noticed, “It is the Cat’s Pajamas” and I chose this name, not because I love cat pajamas, but because this was a phrase back in the 1920’s to refer to something as “cool” or “exciting”. I thought this was a perfect fit, because that is my exact feeling about starting college and joining in the Great Books family, but also because I have a love for things that are classic and timeless!
Until next time!

Hey Erin! I’m Lyz (as if you didn’t know that already)! I loved your introductory post! I’m the same way in that I have read so many books over my eighteen years, yet my “To Read” list is somehow neverending! (And it gets longer everyday!) I can tell that your relationship with God is deep and true, and I admire that about you! I am so excited to get to see your faith grow in the next four years, and I hope our friendship grows immensely as well! You said you love things that are classic and timeless, do you have a specific fondness for the 1920s? If not, what decade of the last century do you think is your favorite? I’m intrigued to know. Also, what kind of music is your favorite to listen to and/or to sing?
ReplyDeleteHey Lyz! So sorry that I am just now replying to your comment, life can get pretty crazy, as I know you are well aware of. Thank you for your sweet comment ! I am so excited to see where God takes our friendship! You are so so smart, kind, funny, etc. but I can tell that when it comes to The Lord, you are very passionate and I love that!! Yes, I am in love with past decades in general, but especially with the 20’s and the 50’s! They had such cool traditions and styles in those decades. Which decade is your favorite? I love listening to literally all kinds of music, but currently I listen to a lot of chorus music all the time! (Haha)
